My present work as an Environmental Lobbyist follows education and work in several positions. Through a variety of employment and volunteer work I have built a record of management, knowledge, and leadership that will allow me to work effectively with the public, with the Board, and with other elected officials toward implementing the several policy proposals I have put forth.

I was raised in Newhall, Iowa (Benton County). My father worked as a large animal veterinarian and my mother was an elementary school teacher. I have four brothers and four sisters in a fifth generation Iowa family.

My family moved to Johnson County in 1976. I worked at A&A Coins & Collectables, my family’s coin, stamp, and antiques business during high school and college. I graduated from Regina High School in 1979 and then the University of Iowa in Business Administration.

After school, I worked in radio, music, and publicity. In the 1990s, I discovered a passion for environmental causes and began volunteer work to address climate change. That led to establishing Green State Solutions, my environmental advocacy and consulting firm. I have lobbied state and national environmental organizations to implement better environmental and energy policy in both Iowa and the nation through outreach, organizing, and policy advocacy.
After 15 years as an Environmental Lobbyist, I now want to bring my talents to the Johnson County Board of Supervisors to address our local issues from a sustainable perspective—environmentally, economically, and with social justice.
